We have a bombshell for zombie lovers out of San Diego Comic-Con: The Walking Dead is officially coming to the big screen. AMC, Skybound and Universal Pictures have revealed an ominous, brief teaser for the untitled Rick Grimes Walking Dead movie movie, which will bring back the character of Rick Grimes, as portrayed by Andrew Lincoln. Not much has been revealed at this time, but we now know this is going to be a theatrically-released event.
The teaser truly is just meant to give a sense of atmosphere. We see a helicopter flying toward a city skyline. Dark and eerie score is playing in the background. Everything is cloaked in heavy shadow. We don't actually see any characters appear on screen. Then The Walking Dead title card is revealed, before the classic theme from the show kicks in. We then get the big reveal in the form of the massive tag at the end, which reads as follows.
We, at long last, have the first trailer for Cats. This serves as the long-awaited movie adaptation of the legendary and incredibly popular Broadway musical. But can such a thing translate well to the big screen? Universal Pictures intends to find out, and they've lined up an all-star cast in front of the camera, which includes Taylor Swift and Idris Elba, in addition to Oscar-winner Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) behind the camera. And, yep, it sure looks like all of these actors and music stars are playing cats alright.
Before the Comic-Con trailer arrived, buzz started to generate online for Cats when a featurette which recently made its way online, was played at CinemaCon. To the amazement of everyone, though perhaps not surprisingly, the movie will be turning all of these actors into actual cat-sized cats using cutting edge technology. They've even built massive, detailed sets that allow for someone like Rebel Wilson to dance on a table and have her look to be the size of a house cat. What's more amazing is how very seriously everyone seems to be taking it when this is, in fact, a movie about cats.
In any event, Universal Pictures has pulled out all the stops for this one while showing us the trailer during Comic-Con. Aside from the respected Tom Hooper, the team behind the scenes also includes several additional Oscar nominees and winners. The crew consists of production designer Eve Stewart (The King's Speech), cinematographer Christopher Ross (Room), costume designer Paco Delgado (The Danish Girl), sound mixer Simon Hayes (Les Miserables), executive music producer Marius De Vries (Moulin Rouge) and casting director Lucy Bevan (Murder on the Orient Express).
The full cast is equally impressive. It includes James Corden (Ocean's 8), Judi Dench (Skyfall), Idris Elba (Hobbs & Shaw), Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings), Rebel Wilson (Isn't It Romantic) and introduces Francesca Hayward, principal dancer of the Royal Ballet, in her debut feature. Not to mention having several very successful musicians on board in the form of Jason Derulo, Jennifer Hudson and Taylor Swift.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical remains one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history. The story, in short, centers on a tribe of Jellicle Cats who, on a moonlit evening, must make the "Jellicle choice" to decide which of them will ascend to the mysterious Heaviside Layer to be reborn. Webber based the show on T.S. Eliot's collection of poems, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. The show has been performed just shy of 9,000 times since its debut in 1981. It also took home seven Tony Awards in 1983, and, rather amazingly, won the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award not once, but twice, first in 1982 and once again in 2015.
La La Land helped to cement musicals as something that can be highly profitable in the modern Hollywood landscape. But can this work for the average moviegoer? It's going to be fascinating to see how this all plays out. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself. Cats is set to pounce into theaters on December 20 from Universal Pictures.
The Top Gun: Maverick trailer just landed at San Diego Comic-Con, giving those in attendance a look at the upcoming sequel. Previously, it had been reported Paramount was planning some kind of presence for the movie at SDCC, although this seemed to be just a rumor after the full schedule was released with no mention of Maverick. Fortunately, the studio had something in mind for fans after all, starting the hype about a year ahead of the sequel's release. While the presented Comic-Con footage may leave those who saw it wanting more, the countdown to the premiere has now begun, and we'll soon enough likely be seeing much more from the movie ourselves in the months ahead.
Maverick is coming along at the perfect time, as new sequels to classic movies are proving to be the newest trend in Hollywood. It's also been made clear they can be highly profitable, as filmgoers are willing to pay big bucks for nostalgia. Despite its popularity and success, Top Gun was one of those beloved classics from the 80s which somehow was never given any kind of sequel. Directed by Tony Scott, the original movie first hit theaters in 1986 and was met with tremendous box office success. Starring Tom Cruise as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and Val Kilmer as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, the movie follows a group of aspiring naval pilots competing to be the best at the Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School.
As we see in this Comic-Con trailer, the upcoming sequel is set 34 years after the events of the original Top Gun, bringing back both Cruise and Kilmer to reprise their roles. Now, Maverick is the new flight instructor of the Top Gun school, and it's time for him to pass the torch to the next hotshot naval pilot. In particular, he mentors the son of Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (played by Anthony Edwards in the original movie), who's now grown up and looking to do his father proud. The role of Brad Bradshaw, Goose's son, will be played by Fantastic Four star Miles Teller. Most fans of the original can probably agree that this is the best route to go in for a sequel. While it's necessary to see some new pilots honing their craft this time around, it just wouldn't feel like a Top Gun sequel without the returns of both Cruise and Kilmer.
Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) is directing Maverick, using a screenplay by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Christopher McQuarrie, and Eric Warren Singer. In addition to Cruise, Kilmer, and Teller, the cast also features Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Ed Harris, and Manny Jacinto. Cruise is also producing, along with Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger.
We've been seeing tons of new content coming out of SDCC to start anticipating, including trailers for Terminator: Dark Fate, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and It: Chapter Two. Still, for fans of the original Top Gun, Maverick is among the most exciting of the upcoming movies to be featured at the event. Top Gun: Maverick will land in theaters everywhere on June 26, 2020, courtesy of Paramount Pictures.
20th Century Fox has released a new trailer and poster for Ad Astra. It's been a long time coming, but the movie is finally on track to hit theaters this September after hitting a few delays. In the latest trailer, Brad Pitt proves that the movie could end up with some Academy Award nominations when all of the dust settles. This isn't going to be a normal space adventure where there is a huge threat to humanity. There is much more going on underneath the surface.
Ad Astra stars Brad Pitt as an astronaut (Roy McBride) as he travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father. The mission unravels a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet and proves his father might not be who he thought he was. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos, while packing in some intergalactic action at the same time.
Ad Astra is a reunion of sorts between James Gray and Brad Pitt after The Lost City of Z. Pitt did not star in the aforementioned movie, but he was a producer. As for the look of the upcoming movie, it looks like something that will have to be seen on the big screen. Gray and his crew are pushing the boundaries of the future of VFX, and even on a small screen, it has a stunning look to it. Fox had originally set up the movie for release, but Disney is now taking it over after the acquisition.
James Gray recently spoke about making Ad Astra with Brad Pitt and how they are trying to make something different with the movie. When it comes down to it, it's a father and son story, but not as obvious as that, according to the director. James Gray had this to say about what he as aiming to make with Ad Astra.
"We did the deep dive, and what I've tried to do is shake up the genre a little bit. It's all of a piece where you want the film to be dramatically fulfilling and to tackle some profound stuff, because that's the genre that enables you to do so. The weird thing is the movie has become quite personal for me, which I think is always where you want to go if you want to do work that matters."
Ad Astra will finally hit theaters on September 20th. It's been a long wait, but it looks like it will all be worth it in the end for both moviegoers and James Gray and Brad Pitt. In addition to Pitt, the movie also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Liv Tyler, Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland, Kimberly Elise, and Jamie Kennedy. You can check out the second trailer for Ad Astra below, thanks to the 20th Century Fox YouTube channel.
IT Chapter Two is already looking like it's going to be ten times scarier than the first chapter. Andres Muschietti gave Stephen King fans what they have been waiting for at Comic-Con, which is obviously some new footage from the upcoming sequel. The director has been preparing fans on social media for weeks, including sending out digital invitations to this evening's ScareDiego, which truly kicked off the annual event in a very real and terrifying way. Bill Skarsgard has said that Pennywise the Dancing Clown is much more angry this time around and he was not kidding around when he made that statement.
Stephen King has already praised IT Chapter Two, which is basically all we really need to know. However, it's still nice to see some new footage to prepare us for the main event in September. The first trailer was not what horror fans were expecting and Andres Muschietti is taking delight in that fact as he continues to push the boundaries of taking King's iconic source material to the big screen. With that being said, he may have outdone himself for the sequel.
IT Chapter Two is on track to best the first chapter's opening weekend with an estimated $136 million. However, it could even float higher than that when all is said and done. When the first movie hit theaters in 2017, horror fans were immediately on board, but nobody saw it making $123.4 million in its first weekend in theaters. Now, the sequel is on board to beat that number while taking the highest grossing September opening weekend record at the same time. It will more than likely end up taking the crown from the first chapter to become the highest grossing R-rated horror movie.
IT Chapter Two is taking the Losers' Club and showing them as adults. Bill Denbrough (James McAvoy), Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain), Richie Tozier (Bill Hader), Ben Hanscom (Jay Ryan), Stanley Uris (Andy Bean), Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa), and Eddie Kaspbrak (James Ransone) are all back to Derry and it doesn't look like the reunion is going to be too happy for very long. Pennywise is also back and he is looking for some revenge for what the Losers' Club did to him when they were children.
IT Chapter Two is all set to hit theaters on September 6th, two years after the first installment. The book is one Stephen King's best-known stories and expectations are extremely high for Andres Muschietti to deliver the goods again. That's a lot of pressure, but the director is pretty confident he has risen to the occasion and so is King. After seeing some new footage from the sequel, September can't get here fast enough and Comic-Con might as well close up shop early after Pennywise stole the show. You can check out the new IT Chapter Two Comic-Con footage below, thanks to Warner Bros.
We have a brand new red-band trailer for Good Boys. The upcoming, R-rated comedy stars Jacob Tremblay, Brady Noon and Keith L. Williams as a trio of young kids who are at a transitional period in their lives and, as much as people like to think of this as an innocent time in one's life, it's anything but innocent, an idea this trailer takes to the extreme. This movie, produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, looks to add a whole lot of good-natured filth to the coming of age genre.
The video kicks off, much like the first red-band trailer, with producer Seth Rogen telling the trio of young cast members that they can't watch the trailer for their own movie, since it's too raunchy. The boys then persist to explain that they've seen some of his inappropriate for kids movies, such as Superbad and Sausage Party. And they also decide to criticize said movies, right to Rogen's face, which leads the actor/writer/producer/director to verbally retaliate in hilarious fashion.
We then get into the actual trailer, which further asserts what has already been made clear in previous trailers; these good boys are absolutely bad, even if they're unwittingly bad. It is loaded down with language that would make Captain America blush, tons of wildly inappropriate situations that sixth-grade kids should not be in and over-the-top hijinks. As much as it feels like every joke in the movie has been thrown into this footage, as someone who has seen it, I can assure you, there is plenty more where this came from.
Good Boys centers on a group of best friends who have just been invited to their first kissing party. 12-year-old Max (Jacob Tremblay) is panic mode, as he doesn't know how to kiss. Eager to learn, he and his best friends Thor (Brady Noon) and Lucas (Keith L. Williams) decide to use Max's dad's drone to spy on a teenage couple making out next door. Unfortunately, things go terribly wrong when the drone is destroyed. The boys must try to replace it before Max's dad gets home, leading them to skip school and set off on an adventure filled with epically bad decisions that involve accidentally stolen drugs, frat-house paintball, and running from both the cops.
The cast also includes Molly Gordon, Lil Rel Howery, Will Forte and Midori Francis. Gene Stupnitsky is in the director's chair, working from a script he co-wrote alongside Lee Eisenberg. The movie debuted earlier this year at SXSW, where it was met with solid praise. As of this writing, it currently holds a 78 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. We'll have an interview with the cast and filmmakers coming your way soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out the new trailer from the Universal Pictures YouTube channel for yourself. Good Boys is set to arrive in theaters on August 16.
Netflix has released the first trailer for The Red Sea Diving Resort. This is a movie that the streaming service picked up the rights to back in February and, apparently, they didn't want to wait forever to get it out into the world, as it will be making its debut in just a couple of weeks. This first trailer showcases a harrowing true story with Captain America himself, Chris Evans, playing the real-life hero at the center of it all. This is also notable as it marks his first role in a movie following the release of Avengers: Endgame, which may well have been his last go-around in the MCU.
As for the trailer itself, it paints a picture of a rag-tag group, led by Chris Evans, who must rescue a bunch of people from Ethiopia during a terrible genocide. It sets the stage for a very high-risk mission. Things are incredibly tense. It's a mix of action, drama and character. Everything also looks very slick. The scale truly feels large. Also, not for nothing, but those who were mourning the loss of Captain America's beard after Infinity War will be happy to see that Evans is back to his bearded ways here. But, more importantly, this gives us a glimpse at what his future could look like beyond Marvel movies.
Gideon Raff serves as writer and director. Raff is known best for creating the series Prisoners of War, which was adapted in America as the acclaimed drama Homeland. He also created the short-lived Tyrant, as well as Dig and the upcoming miniseries The Spy. He's largely directed TV, but he has helmed some features before, such as 2007's The Killing Floor and 2008's Train. But this is his first full-length feature in a decade.
The Red Sea Diving Resort centers on a series of remarkable rescue missions that are inspired by real events. The movie tells the story of a group of international agents and brave Ethiopians who made use of a deserted holiday retreat in Sudan in the early 80s as a front to smuggle thousands of refugees to Israel. Ari Levinson (Chris Evans) was the charismatic leader who headed up the team. Levinson worked with a brave local named Kabede Bimro (Michael Kenneth Williams), who worked tirelessly to help his people.
This comes as Netflix will be facing down some stiff competition in the streaming game, with Disney+, Apple+ and HBO Max all coming down the pipeline. Plus, the streaming service recently decided to tighten up their spending on big-budget projects, as some of their more hefty investments, such as Triple Frontier, haven't quite paid off. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Haley Bennett, Alessandro Nivola, Michiel Huisman, Alex Hassell, Mark Ivanir, Greg Kinnear and Ben Kingsley. The Red Sea Diving Resort arrives on July 31. Be sure to check out the trailer from the Netflix streaming YouTube channel for yourself.
The trailer for Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken has just been released and Morgan Spurlock is shaking things up again. While 2004's Super Size Me saw Spurlock eating nothing but fast food for 30 days, the sequel is providing a new twist, which has been called "a revelation." The first documentary gained a ton of attention and even earned an Academy Award nomination in the process. Since then, Spurlock has done other documentary projects, but this is bringing it all back to the fast food game.
The full title of the sequel is Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken and it obviously has to do with the most consumed animal on the planet. Instead of living off of fast food for 30 days and getting sick, Morgan Spurlock is attempting to start his own fast food chain, specializing in fried chicken. The trailer shows Spurlock as he goes to find a farm to raise his own chickens and prepare them for the restaurant. While the trailer doesn't give away a whole lot, there's enough to get fans of the original documentary hooked in.
It appears Morgan Spurlock is going to attempt to open his own fried chicken restaurant by being completely honest with his customers in Super Size Me 2. Over the years, as the trailer shows, the word "fried" has been replaced with "crispy." Fried has negative connotations, while crispy sounds like a special feature. Plus, adding fresh greens and other vegetables has been another way to try and show how deceptively healthy a fried chicken sandwich can be. Spurlock will more than likely show what free range actually means and produce factual nutrition labels.
As for the tone of Super Size Me 2, it seems very much like the original 2004 documentary. One has to give Morgan Spurlock credit for coming up with an innovative sequel instead of doing a carbon copy of the first documentary. With that being said, viewers would more than likely want to see an updated version of the original movie since there has been a major push for fast food chains to make their products more healthy over the years. There's always the outliers like Carl's Jr. and Hardees, who like to flaunt how unhealthy their food is, while offering healthier choices at the same time, but for the most part, health is the big part of the equation.
Super Size Me 2 comes after Morgan Spurlock stepped down from his production company during the height of the #MeToo movement in late 2017. Spurlock admitted to sexual misconduct in the past and apologized before getting called out by an accuser. He also admitted to settling a harassment allegation and cheating on his wives and girlfriends over the years. It will be interesting to see how the sequel is received when it hits theaters on September 19th. Will there still be a backlash, or will Spurlock be ok because he owned up to his past mistakes? You can check out the trailer for Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken below, thanks to the Samuel Goldwyn Films YouTube channel.
The full official trailer for Rob Zombie's 3 from Hell has now arrived, finally revealing plenty of actual footage from the anticipated sequel. Previously, Zombie had released a teaser trailer, and although it helped generate excitement, it didn't give us much. Now, after teasing the full trailer in a series of sneak peek images released over the past several days, Zombie has unleashed a full trailer for the movie which should hopefully satisfy his fans this time. Fortunately, we can now get a much clearer picture of 3 from Hell with this "real" trailer for the upcoming movie.
The previously-released teaser trailer for 3 from Hell consisted mostly of clips from House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. As Rob Zombie had been hyping the trailer on social media in the days leading up to its release, many fans were left feeling underwhelmed with what they saw. Ever since it was first announced, fans of the filmmaker have been looking forward to seeing 3 from Hell, but people seemed to be growing tired of waiting for actual footage from the sequel. Today's trailer release finally rectifies that, and should hopefully help hold us over until the movie hits theaters this fall.
3 from Hell picks up where The Devil's Rejects leaves off, bringing back Bill Moseley as Otis Firefly, Sheri Moon Zombie as Baby Firefly, and Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding. The deadly Firefly family seen in the previous movies must now see a judge to stand trial for their killing sprees, but it's not long before they're bringing out the bloodshed once again. Also appearing in the movie are other familiar names like Dee Wallace, Danny Trejo, Daniel Roebuck, Richard Brake, and Jeff Daniel Phillips. Zombie has also teased many "bizarre" cameo appearances as well, not limited to but including Chaz Bono. Those who've seen the director's past work know it's not unusual to see a myriad of horror stars showing up for special roles.
As previously announced, 3 from Hell will be heading to theaters this September for a special three-day screening event. Courtesy of Fathom Events, the unrated version of the sequel can be seen in select theaters on Sept. 16-18 with different bonus videos airing with the movie on each separate night. This includes a special video introduction from Zombie on the first night, a 30-minute behind-the-scenes documentary on the second night, and a double-feature with The Devil's Rejects on Sept. 18. A full list of participating theaters will be released on July 19 when tickets officially go on sale. Considering the anticipation surrounding the movie along with the chance to see it in its gory, unrated form, chances are these screenings are going to sell out quickly.
House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects are often cited by horror fans as two of Zombie's best movies, so hopefully 3 from Hell will do its predecessors justice. Everything we've seen so far looks great, so let's hope Zombie caps off the brutal trilogy with a bang. Most likely, there will be several. You can take a look at the full official trailer for 3 from Hell below.
In 2020, they will become kings. 20th Century Fox has released the debut trailer and teaser poster for upcoming film The King's Man. As a collection of history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in The King's Man.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn, The King's Man comes to theaters February 2020. This Kingsman prequel invites fans to discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency through the eyes of one man (Ralph Fiennes) who must race against time to stop a collection of history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds who gather to plot a war to wipe out millions. And that sure as hell looks like Watchman and The Killing Joke author Alan Moore mixed in there!
The King's Man is a cleverly titled prequel to Matthew Vaughn's sleeper hit Kingsman: The Secret Service starring Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Taron Egerton, and Michael Caine. The secret agent spoof already saw the release of a sequel in 2017 with Vaughn's Kingsman: The Golden Circle. That follow-up featured Firth, Egerton, and Strong joining forces with Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges to take down Julianne Moore. It was not as well-received as the original movie.
But all the same, from here the series is planned to continue ever forward with Kingsman 3 starring Colin Firth and Taron Egerton. And Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, and Halle Berry are all set to reprise their roles from Kingsman: The Golden Circle in the American spin-off Statesman. I don't know about all these other Kingsman movies, but a Statesman standalone motion picture is something I'd definitely be up for checking out. And not just because I'm, you know, an American.
But back to the nuts and bolts of this Kingmans prequel, The King's Man. Ralph Fiennes stars in this prequel as T.E. Lawrence along with Harris Dickinson as Conrad, Liam Neeson as Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener, Daniel Brühl as Felix Yusupov, Rhys Ifans as Grigori Rasputin, Gemma Arterton as Mata Hari, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Lee Unwin. Charles Dance joins them as Field Marshall Haig, along with Matthew Goode as Tristan, Tom Hollander as George V / Wilhelm II / Nicholas II, Djimon Hounsou as Neil Kenlock, Stanley Tucci as Merlin, Alison Steadman as Guinevere, Robert Aramayo as Gavrilo Princip, Alexandra Maria Lara as Polly, and Joel Basman as Gawain.
Like every other The Kingsman movie, this new flick is directed by Matthew Vaughn, who also produced from a screenplay written by Karl Gajdusek based on the comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. Henry Jackman will provide this film with its score while Ben Davis handles cinematography, and Jon Harris edits it all together. 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, and Marv Studios are the powers that be behind this prequel which Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will unleash into a theater near you on Valentine's Day 2020.
Power Rangers star Jason David Frank has unveiled his next planned movie, which will bring in several other stars from the franchise to star alongside the martial artist. Called Legend of the White Dragon, the official Kickstarter page for the project was just launched, seeking a $500,000 budget by way of crowdfunding. A new poster and official trailer have also been released, giving potential donors an idea of what to expect from the final product. As of now, the project has already raised over $32,000 and the campaign seems to be off to a great start.
On the Kickstarter page, a basic plot synopsis is provided for Legend of the White Dragon. Set in the aftermath of the complete decimation of the city, the heroes - a group of fighters similar to the Power Rangers - were blamed, stripped of their titles, and hunted. However, when evil returns, so again must the fallen heroes in their question for redemption, using the power of what's known as the White Dragon. While certainly reminiscent of Power Rangers, the movie also feels like it's a bit more mature in comparison to the family-friendly TV programs designed for children.
Frank is just one of many Power Rangers stars to appear in Legend of the White Dragon. The project also brings in other faces from the franchise, such as Jason Faunt (Power Rangers Time Force), Johnny Yong Bosch (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Ciara Hanna (Power Rangers Megaforce), Chrysti Ane (Power Rangers Ninja Steel), and Yoshi Sudarso (Power Rangers Dino Charge). Frank's daughter Jenna also stars. While it may not officially be a Power Rangers project, it's needless to say this will still have the attention of longtime fans of the franchise. The cast features a who's who of stars from the series, and the action and character design all appear to be heavily inspired by the popular franchise as well.
Certainly, there's no member of the Power Rangers alumni more well-known than Jason David Frank, as the franchise and the series are basically synonymous. The actor and martial artist first joined the series back during its original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers run as Tommy Oliver, first appearing as the Green Ranger and then the White Ranger. The character would go on to make constant appearances in other iterations of the franchise in the years since, and is likely to continue showing up in the various TV series which are still ongoing. Frank had a cameo appearance in the 2017 movie as well, portraying a random Angel Grove citizen along with former Pink Ranger, Amy Jo Johnson.
Speaking of Power Rangers, it's also been recently reported the next official movie is in the works with an all-new cast. Replacing the entire cast of 2017 reboot, the new movie is apparently looking to take the franchise in another direction. Time will tell if Frank cameos in this next one as well. You can watch the trailer for Legend of the White Dragon below, courtesy of Bat in the Sun on YouTube, and you can find out more information about the movie over at Kickstarter.
Blumhouse has released the trailer for The Hunt and it looks pretty chilling. Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse are behind the new movie, which has been described as a political and subversive thriller. As for the storyline, it is similar to The Most Dangerous Game, Battle Royale, and The Belko Experiment, but with a twist. It's unclear what the specific twist is, but it sure looks intriguing from the trailer.
The trailer for The Hunt plays like commercial inviting us to go join the Manor, an elite hunting facility that makes everything look nice and relaxing. However, as the narrator continues to hype the place up, one begins to notice that this isn't a normal hunting experience in the slightest. Instead of animals, the hunt is for humans, who have no idea where they are, or how they arrived there. You can read the logline below.
"Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don't know where they are, or how they got there. They don't know they've been chosen... for a very specific purpose... The Hunt"
The Hunt takes place in the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, when a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites' master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin), knows The Hunters' game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.
From Jason Blum, the producer of Get Out and The Purge series, and Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the TV series The Leftovers and Lost, comes a new mysterious social thriller. The Hunt is written by Lindelof and his fellow The Leftovers' collaborator Nick Cuse and is directed by Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, The Leftovers). Blum produces for his Blumhouse Productions alongside Lindelof. The movie is executive produced by Zobel, Cuse and Steven R. Molen.
Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts, and Hilary Swank star in The Hunt. Craig Zobel is in the director's chair for the thriller and it looks like this is going to be a much different take on a pretty well-known story. Blumhouse originally announced the release date of September 27th, but then switched it to October, and then back again to the original September date. Blumhouse does not shy away from tackling politics and social issues in their movies and they are often able to work with a small budget to deliver big hits. The Hunt looks like it will be a pretty big hit for the studio with the right promotional push behind it. You can watch the trailer for The Hunt below, thanks to the Universal Pictures YouTube channel.
We have a brand new trailer for Dora and the Lost City of Gold. This serves as a live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon's beloved and highly regarded children's series Dora the Explorer. So, be it adults who are now feeling a bit nostalgic regarding a major fixture of their childhood, or young kids now who are still enjoying what Dora has to offer in her animated form, this is bringing the heroine to life in a totally new way. This latest trailer offers our best look yet at what Isabella Moner is going to bring to the role.
It's clear that Dora is going to be ripped from her comfort zone. As we saw in the previous Dora the Explorer trailer, she is being pulled from exploring the jungle alongside her parents and is being forced to go to a real high school with other kids her age. Inevitably, Dora finds her way back to the jungle and ends up being able to lead her fish out of water friends through the terrain that she's far more familiar with. Dora's cast of familiar characters is also along for the ride, with Diego and the trusty monkey Boots both showing up. Even Swiper the fox, who was her most notorious nemesis from the series, is making the jump. But there are also human threats present in the kid-friendly action/adventure flick.
Isabella Moner previously starred in movies such as Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight and Sicario: Day of the Soldado. Interestingly enough, early on, it was reported that Bay was going to serve as a producer on this movie, but that turned out not to be true. Eva Longoria Desperate Housewives, is on board as her mom, Michael Pena (Ant-Man and the Wasp) set to play her dad. Benicio Del Toro, who previously worked with Moner in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, is lending his voice for Swiper. Diego will be portrayed by Jeffrey Wahlberg (Future World). Last, but certainly not least, Boots is going to be voiced by none other than Danny Trejo (Machete).
Dora and the Lost City of Gold centers on Dora, who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents. But nothing could prepare the young explorer for her most dangerous adventure ever; High School. Dora quickly finds herself leading her monkey pal Boots, Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant named Alejandro Gutierrez (Eugenio Derbez), and a group of teens from her new school on a journey to save her parents, while also trying to solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Back in May, Disney dropped the first trailer for their upcoming Maleficent sequel starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning, and today we have an all-new trailer to share with you guys. While the first trailer for Disney's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil that was released back in May was basically a quick glimpse at the mood of the new film, this new trailer showcases much more of the film's plot.
And speaking of this sequel's plot, from the looks of today's extended trailer it appears this new adventure will center on Elle Fanning's Princess Aurora getting engaged and her birth mother, Queen Ingrith (played by Batman Returns and What Lies Beneath star Michelle Pfeiffer) trying to reclaim the girl from Maleficent's care. As you might imagine, sets off Jolie's titular witch and sends her on a rip-roaring rampage of revenge that seems to include some pretty epic-looking action. Plus, it appears that the Sleeping Beauty villain will be joining forces "with her own kind" lead by 12 Years a Slave and Doctor Strange actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.
This new entry will see the return of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life and Mr. & Mrs. Smith star Angelina Jolie as Maleficent along with Neon Demon and Teen Spirit star Elle Fanning as Aurora. As mentioned above, Michelle Pfeiffer will join them as Queen Ingrith, along with Harris Dickinson as Prince Phillip, Imelda Staunton as Knotgrass, Juno Temple as Thistlewit, Lesley Manville as Flittle, Sam Riley as Diaval, and Robert Lindsay as King John. Ed Skrein joins them along with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Warwick Davis, Jenn Murray, David Gyasi, John Carew, Freddie Wise, and Judith Shekoni as Shrike.
Marco Polo and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Rønning is taking over the helm of this new movie from original Maleficent director Robert Stromberg. Rønning will direct this sequel from a screenplay written by Linda Woolverton (Alice Through the Looking Glass), Micah Fitzerman-Blue (Transparent), and Noah Harpster (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood). Their script is, of course, based on characters from not only Disney's classic 1959 animated masterpiece Sleeping Beauty but also it's original source material La Belle au bois Dormant by Charles Perrault.
On top of headlining Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Angelina Jolie also produces this new Disney movie along with Joe Roth (The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle) and Duncan Henderson (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World). Geoff Zanelli will provide this sequel with its score, while Henry Braham will handle the film's cinematography and Richard Francis-Bruce will edit the whole shebang into a finished film. Walt Disney Pictures and Roth Films are behind this Maleficent sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil which Walt Disney Studios will release into a theater near you on October 18, 2019. Just in time for Halloween. This new trailer comes to us from Walt Disney Studios over on YouTube.
Yesterday we passed along the news that the trailer for Disney and director Niki Caro's live-action remake of the animated classic Mulan starring Liu Yifei and Donnie Yen would be hitting today. And low and behold, that's just what we have For you guys this evening. You can go ahead and check it out below!
I don't know about you, but I'm really looking forward to checking out this live-action take on Mulan. After all, while it seems like every classic Disney animated movie is getting the remake treatment these days, Mulan was the only Disney flick I watched growing up and actually thought, "This would make a great live-action movie!' For some reason, I never said that about The Lion King. Not sure why.
While it's sad that fan-favorite character Mushu (who was voiced by Eddie Murphy in the original movie) has been replaced with a phoenix this time around, we do know that Mulan's cricket will still be a character and will be voiced by Jun Yu. So that's something for all of us semi-life-long Mulan fans to hold on to.
For those that might not know, this upcoming live-action remake of Mulan is coming our way via director Niki Caro (The Zookeeper's Wife, McFarland, USA) and it stars Liu Yifei as the titular hero, Hua Mulan, along with Ip Man and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Donnie Yen as Commander Tung. Caro will be taking the helm of the new version from a screenplay written by Elizabeth Martin, Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver. Their script is, of course, based on Disney's original animated classic which was written by Rita Hsiao, Philip LaZebnik, Chris Sanders, Eugenia Bostwick-Singer, and Raymond Singer based on a story by Robert D. San Souci based on Hua Mulan by Guo Maoqian.
Yifei and Yen's co-stars are set to include Jason Scott Lee as the film's main villain Bori Khan, a Hun warrior leader intent on avenging his father's death, and Yoson An as Mulan's rival turned love interest, Chen Honghui. Tzi Ma joins them as Mulan's father, Hua Zhou along with Jet Li as The Emperor, Ron Yuan as Sergeant Qiang, and Nelson Lee as The Chancellor. Soldiers in Commander Tung's unit includes Chen Tang as Yao, Jimmy Wong as Ling, and Doua Moua as Po.
New characters set to be introduced in this live-action version include Gong Li as a powerful and malevolent witch named Xian Lang; Xana Tang as Mulan's sister, Hua Xiu, and Utkarsh Ambudkar and Chum Ehelepola as con artists named Skatch and Ramtish. The remake is produced by Chris Bender, Tendo Nagenda, Jason Reed, and Jake Weiner. Harry Gregson-Williams will compose the score for this new version while Mandy Walker will handle the film's cinematography, and the whole thing will be edited together by David Coulson. Walt Disney Studios will get down to business and release the movie here in the United States on March 27, 2020. This trailer comes to us via Walt Disney Studios.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Looper writer-director Rian Johnson's Knives Out will be hitting a theater near you this November and the movie sports one killer cast including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, and more. And today we have the movie's trailer for you to check out.
For those of you out there that might not know, this new Rian Johnsonmovie is being described as a modern take on the classic whodunit murder mystery. More specifically, the flick centers on a family gathering gone horribly awry when the family's patriarch (played by The Sound of Music star Christopher Plummer) dies, and two detectives (Craig and Stanfield) are sent to investigate the scene.
I don't know about you, but just the movie's premise has got me thinking of a modern day version of Jonathan Lynn and Debra Hill's 1985 adaptation of the boardgame Clue. That killer comedy featured Lesley Ann Warren as Ms. Scarlet, Martin Mull as Col. Mustard, Madeline Kahn as Mrs. White, Christopher Lloyd as Prof. Plum, Eileen Brennan as Mrs. Peacock, and Michael McKean as Mr. Green. Tim Curry joined them as an original character named Wadsworth along with other original characters such as Yvette played by Colleen Camp, and Mr. Boddy played by Lee Ving.
Will this Knives Out motion picture be anything like that version of Clue? God, I hope so. After all, the movie is one of the films Johnson listed as an influence on Knives Out. The other classic mystery thrillers he mentioned include Sidney Lumet's Deathtrap with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve, and Robert Altman's Gosford Park with Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, Ryan Phillippe, and Maggie Smith. And let's not forget Sidney Lumet's 1974 take on Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express which was recently remade by Kenneth Branagh with a cast that included Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Josh Gad, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Other murder-mystery movies Johnson cited as influences include films I'm not overly familiar with such as Evil Under the Sun, Murder by Death, The Last of Sheila, The Mirror Crack'd, Something's Afoot, and The Private Eyes. Again, I'm not overly familiar with these titles, but if you are, then I hope that gets you even more excited for this movie.
As mention above the killer cast for Knives Out includes Daniel Craig as Det. Benoit Blanc, Chris Evans as Alex Robinson, Lakeith Stanfield as Det. Troy Archer, Michael Shannon as Jack Bressler, Ana de Armas as Marta, Jamie Lee Curtis as Linda Robinson, and Don Johnson as Morris Robinson. Toni Collette will join them along with Christopher Plummer, Jaeden Martell, Katherine Langford, Riki Lindhome, Edi Patterson, Raúl Castillo, Noah Segan, Frank Oz, and M. Emmet Walsh.
Rian Johnson directs Knives Out from an original screenplay he penned himself and also produces along with Ram Bergman. The film will feature music by Nathan Johnson, cinematography by Steve Yedlin, and editing by Bob Ducsay. FilmNation Entertainment, Media Rights Capital, and Ram Bergman Productions are the production companies behind the scenes of the flick which will be distributed into a theater near you by Lionsgate on November 27, 2019.
